Blood Flow Restriction (BFR)
Build strength without overloading what’s still healing
Blood flow restriction (BFR) training uses a specialized cuff to partially restrict blood flow to a limb during exercise, allowing you to build real strength with much lighter loads than you’d normally need. That makes it especially useful when an area isn’t ready to be loaded heavily yet, but still needs to get stronger.
Commonly Used For
- Post-surgical recovery (like after ACL or rotator cuff repair)
- Early-stage rehab for a fracture or tendon injury
- Situations where joint pain limits how much weight you can tolerate
- Maintaining muscle strength during a period when heavy training isn’t an option
How It Fits Into Your Plan
BFR is a tool we bring into a plan when it fits your specific recovery stage, not a one-size-fits-all add-on — we’ll incorporate it if and when your evaluation shows it’s the right call.
